American Idols Live (8/18/09)

August 18, 2009-- American Idols
TDBank Garden, Boston, MA

The day had finally come for me to meet my husband, Danny Gokey. Or so I thought.
It was the hottest day of the Summer in Boston. Allie and I were well equipped with battery powered fans, sunglasses, sunscreen and of course, our cameras. We got to the Garden early, knowing that the Idols came out to greet fans and take pictures. There were a bunch of crazed fans waiting there already, including 60-year old Glambert cougars, a diehard Megan fan, and some people that actually knew who Michael Sarver was. We made friends with the first girls in line so we could cut them, and flirted with the young security guard in order to be closer to the gate entrance. If all had gone according to plan, we would have met all of the Idols first, and scored the most time with them.
Then the tragic news came. Through a tweet. From that damn Michael Sarver.
"We are so sorry but the venue security won't let us come out there and meet the fans. We don't want you guys waiting out there for nothing."
ARE YOU KIDDING ME. The ONE city that they don't come out and meet the fans happens to be Boston?!?!?! No. Friking. Way.
We walked away depressed, let-down, and with near heat-strokes. We decided to treat ourselves to a yummy lunch and enjoyed our time in Boston until the show.
The actual concert was AWESOME. Matt Giraurd completely impressed me. Allison rocked it, and I had a mild heart-attack when Danny came out. Of course Adam Lambert stole the show, with all his glitter and fabulous body-rolls. Allie was left saying "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?"
Kris Allen who?

Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy (8/6/09)

August 6, 2009-- Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy
Comcast Center, Mansfield, MA

Being the ONLY sober people at this show, sitting on the lawn in a cloud of weed, and Sarah having the flu didn't make this the best concert, but we got the tickets on sale so it was no big loss. Loved seeing Blink 182-- another band from the 90's the reunited.

Paul McCartney (8/5/09)

August 5, 2009-- Paul McCartney
Fenway Park, Boston, MA

I don't know if I could ever describe the impact that this concert made on me. It was like experiencing heaven on earth for a couple hours.

Chad Perrone (7/26/09)

July 26, 2009-- Chad Perrone
The Paradise, Boston, MA

Every year Chad usually has a big show at the 'Dise that is awesome and makes me so proud! This year was even better because Tim Blane opened up, so I got to see my two favorite Bostonian artists. They performed "Rosanna" together at the end and it was AMAZING!

Jonas Brothers (7/17/09)

July 17, 2009-- Jonas Brothers
TDBank Garden, Boston, MA

Remember that one time in 2006 I thought to myself, "Oh those Jonas Brothers, I can't imagine that they will ever be able to play the Garden. They won't ever be that big." Oops. Fast forward only 3 years later and here they are, with not one but TWO sold out nights at the Garden. **gasp**
The meet and greet for this show was of course complicated in the beginning (with security that didn't know anything about what was going on) and then ended up being awesome. Big Rob was SO nice and excited to see us, and gave me a jumbo-sized hug and the usual "hey baby how you doin baby good to see you baby." Haha I love him. The boys were SO nice and genuinely happy to see us, because it had been a whole year! I prepared a small speech to give them, and after I took my pic with them I took Nick's hand and looked him right in the eyes and said "I just wanted to say that watching you guys go from playing little mall shows with 50 people to playing at sold-out arenas all over the world is amazing, I'm so proud of you and you deserve it after all your hard work." Nick got really quiet because I could see that he was really touched by that and just said "thank you so much." That's when Joe also kind of snapped out of the usualy daze he is in during meet and greets and was leaning over my shoulder listening to what I was saying to Nick. I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty damn cute.
We ran in when Honor Society was playing. They rocked it, and we displayed our awesome Honor-Roll dancing skills. Our seats were UNBELIEVABLE... we were level with the stage on the side, and like 5th row.
This show was WAY over the top. It was like being stuck in a world of special effects complete with lasers, pyro and even a water-screen. The stage was in the round, and the boys could clearly see us (and Nick often watched us for way too long haha). One of the best parts of the show was when they did "Year 3000"... which is now the only song they do from their first CD. Kevin "dancing in the rain" literally made me laugh out loud.

(one of my fav concert photos of all time, see the HERO sign?)

Chad Perrone (7/11/09)

July 11,2009-- Chad Perrone
Sailsbury Beach, Sailsbury, NH

Funny how many endless times me and Allison spent at the beach the Summers before listening to Chad's CDs. To see him actually play a live concert on the beach while we sat on the sand was so ironic... and so awesome! He threw in some old Averi songs like "Harwich" and "Mouth Full of Sand"... obviously perfect for this beach experience.

No Doubt and Paramore (6/20/09)

June 20, 2009-- No Doubt and Paramore
Comcast Center, Mansfield, MA

2009 was the year of the return of the pop bands from the 90's. And I loved it. How many awesome hit songs did No Doubt have over the years? I really realized that when they offered a free download of their entire music library for each ticket you bought through LiveNation. What a deal!
Another bonus of this show was that Paramore, one of my all-time favorite bands, was the opener. Hayley Williams is pretty much the coolest chick ever. I want to be her.
No Doubt was WAY better than I expected!! The show was high-energy and displayed Gwen Stefani's amazing 40 year old and after two kids stomach (see pic). Crazy!
Highlights: "Hella Good" live was SO good. "Don't Speak" gave me goosebumps as the entire crowd sang along and held up cell phones and lighters during the song. The funky videos and futuristic stage totally fit the feel of the band and the show.
