NKOTB (6/19/09)

June 19, 2009- New Kids on the Block and Jesse McCartney
Comcast Center, Mansfield, MA

The first concert of the summer! This was a graduation present for Jaye (8th grade) and Amy (high school) because Jesse McCartney is their FAVORITE. We were literally the only people that cared about JMac, and stood up the entire time and copied his awesome dance moves. I think we entertained our entire section.
This was the second time I was seeing New Kids, but this show was completely different from the last! The production of this show was one of the best I have ever seen. The special effects, pyro, computer graphics, staging.... everything was intense and over the top.
The coolest part of the show is when the lights went completely out for 30 seconds... when they came back on, the members of NKOTB were in the audience! Jon was only a few feet away from us! It was totally unexpected and so awesome!
Seeing a NKOTB concert in BOSTON was something I've always wanted to do. Donnie came out by himself at one point and simply said "BOSTON!!" and there was literally a 10 minute scream fest, and everyone was hitting the back of the chair in front of them, creating a thunderous and powerful louder-than-normal applause. The Comcast Center was literally shaking with Boston pride, and it brought Donnie to tears. Such an amazing, unforgettable moment.
The show ended with a bang-- confetti tornados!!! Randomly throughout the audience, these machines spun confetti creating these huge tornado-like tunnels and covered the crowd with the silver flakes.

The Veronicas (6/4/09)

June 4, 2009-- Veronicas Concert
Lupo's, Providence, RI

It was so nice to finally be able to go to a Veronicas concert where they were actually the headliner!! Lupo's is a smaller club and is great for shows. We were pretty close to the stage.
The Pretty Reckless opened for them, Little J's band (from Gossip Girl). She's better as an actress than a performer...
The Veronicas were so on-point all night. They did a lot of their old music which was suprising and very exciting! Some of the best were "Everything", "Mouth Shut", "Mother Mother", and "When it All Falls Apart."
The best moment of the show was when they did an acoustic version of "Heavily Broken." That song was my anthem during my Senior year of high school and is one of my all time favorites.
A funny part of the show was before they sang "Revenge is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were)" and Lisa said that it was a song about a previous relationship she had, and she went over to Jess and held the top of her blonde hair straight up and we all laughed-- obviously she was talking about Ryan Cabrera. I noticed in the song that it says "And you're on the way down, I can't wait to see you burn"... ouch!

Kiss Concert 2009 (5/17/09)

May 17, 2009-- Kiss Concert 2009
Comcast Center, Mansfield, MA

Jaye and I continues the "sisterly tradition" of going to Kiss Concert together. The lineup was: The Veronicas, Jada, The White Tie Affair, 3OH!3, Black Eyed Peas, Matt Nathanson, The All-American Rejects, Sean Kingston, Ciara, Akon, LMFAO, Ashley Tisdale, Soulja Boy, Jesse McCartney, and Flo Rida.
The Veronicas ROCKED the stage. We bought their CD which entitled us to a meet and greet with them. They wouldn't let us get pictures with them, just an autograph. It was mostly 14 year old girls that were in line, so obviously I stood out. I went up to them and said "I just wanted to say thank you for making music that helps me to understand my life better. I've been a fan since 2005 and you guys are amazing!" Jess literally stopped and was like "that is so sweet!!!" and gave me a hug. They were SO nice!
3OH!3 was awesome-- two guys doing hillarious dance moves and singing and rapping. The Black Eyed Peas are SO good live, so it was great to see them again. They debuted their single "Tonight" at the show. The craziest/funnest part was during "Boom Boom Pow" when Fergie sings the part "people in the place, if you wanna get down, put your hands in the air, Will.i.am drop the beat now"-- the ENTIRE crowd had their hands in the air, and when the beat hit everyone went CRAZY! Sooo fun!
Matt Nathanson was really good-- I'm a sucker for boys with guitars. The All-American Rejects dissed the Jonas Brothers which pissed us off. Akon was one of the best performers at the show-- he has so many good songs, and always gets the crowd involved. He actually told everyone to run down and fill the isles, and said "F*ck security!" It was INSANE and a total mob scene.
Jaye had an amazing moment when she met Jesse McCartney. She actually proposed to him! She said 'we're getting married" and he said "oh really? Where's my ring?" and she said "no you're suppose to get ME a ring!" So he pretty much accepted her proposal. Jaye was FREAKING OUT and soooo happy. It was awesome! His performace was great too-- we rocked out to all his songs.

Chad Perrone (4/22/09)

April 22, 2009-- Chad Perrone
Showcase Live, Foxboro, MA

This was technically an Eve 6 concert, but we didn't stay for them. Chad was the opening act. It was so exciting seeing him play at a venue like Showcase Live. He did a great set list-- all upbeat and all of his best songs! Me, Allison and Amy jammed out, and were clearly the only ones doing so. Someone even came up to us afterwards and asked if we were with Chad, haha.

New Kids on the Block (3/31/09)

March 31, 2009-- New Kids on the Block
Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, NH
I am a sucker for boy bands. I was too young to be a NKOTB fan back in the late 80's/early 90's, but know that if I was older I would have been obsessed. I absolutely love their new CD "The Block" so I just had to check them out in concert. I got a preview at the Kiss Concert in 2008 and wanted more! Me and my BSB buddy Allison went to this show-- we share that love for boybands.
When we first got to the show, we noticed that a ton of people had these white posterboard stars that said 'thank you" on them. We kept wondering what they were and saw them everywhere. As soon as we sat in our seats, the ladies behind us handed us each a star. There were instructions on the back of the star that said "hold this up during the song 'I'll Be Loving You Forever."
We had 17th row on the Floor-- awesome seats. The Jabeawookeez opened the show-- it was a very different type of opener but so awesome. They danced to wicked good music, and even did the "Single Ladies" dance and the New Kids "Right Stuff" dance.
Although the guys are all around 40 years old, they can still dance like crazy!! Jordan Knight is still a hottie-- he sang his solo "Give it To You" with an unbuttoned shirt, showing off his amazing bod. Donnie Walburg is all about Boston pride, and got us all pumped up.
The funniest part was when a bra was flung onto the stage as they were at a talking part of the concert, and Jordan picked it up and did a crazy dance with it!
They performed a combination of their new album and their classic hits. The best ones were "Grown Man", "Click Click Click", "Step By Step" and "Right Stuff."

Chad Perrone (3/28/09)

March 28, 2009-- Chad Perrone
Tupelo Music Hall, Londonderry, NH

This show was recorded for a live album Chad was planning to release. His voice sounded great, one of the best shows I think he's ever done. It was a laid-back acoustic set, and Chad took the time to share with us what some of his songs were written about. One of my favorite songs is "Madison" and I loved hearing the story behind it-- it was actually about his experience in New York auditioning for a record label that was on Madison Ave.

Britney Spears (3/16/09)

March 16, 2009-- Britney Spears
TDBank Garden, Boston, MA

The first concert of 2009! We were sooo excited that Britney Spears was finally making her long-awaited comeback. It had been 10 years since I had seen her in concert! The Circus Tour was unlike any other show I had ever seen! The Pussycat Dolls were the opening act, a perfect fit for the show. They were incredible-- the best part was the dance breakdown part of "When I Grow Up." Then the main act of the show opened with a 20 minute Circus performance with tight rope walkers, trapeze acts and magicians. Then Britney in all her power came down from the ceiling in a ringleader costume. No one can deny that she is the true "pop princess" of our time.
Britney looked great and put on an amazing show. She danced her ass off... she may not be able to move like she did back when she was a teenager, but she's still got it! She started off the show strong with "Circus" and "Piece of Me." Then she performed a remix of "Me Against the Music" with a twist of Indian-style music, costume and dancing. For "If You Seek Amy" and "Boys" Britney sported a cute army outfit.
The "Freakshow" part of the concert was hott! The stage had lots of couches and hanging picture frames (with Britney and the dancers actually dancing in them for "Breath on Me"). This part of the show consisted of "Freakshow", "Get Naked", "Breath on Me", and "Touch of My Hand."
My favorite part of the entire show was the remix of "Baby One More Time"... it was simple, sounded awesome, and was a nice reminder of how Britney burst onto the music scene 10 years ago.

(This is how excited we were when Britney came out!)
